the problem lies in the midfield - other than Walker we have a number of identikit players who can all run a lot, can try to get in the opposition's way, can hoof it diagonally forward, and can chase the ball. What they can't do is play intricate pass&move style nor hold possession, the result being that we can't play through midfield cos we can't create from there (nor control the game). So defenders too have to play long balls and miss them out much of the time.
Not the hardest to defend against - reduces us to a physical contest, same level as the very ordinary teams.
